4×4 Adventure Tours is owned and operated by Land Rover enthusiast and off-road expert Tom Parkes.

“My obsession with Land Rovers started when I bought and re-built a 1960 Series 2. Re-named Russell, I drove him overland from Bristol to Cape Town. Covering 25,000 miles in 10 months I drove through some of Africa’s toughest terrains.

I now lead guided 4×4 tours throughout England, Wales, the Pyrenees, Portugal, and Morocco.

Running 4×4 Adventure Tours is really an excuse to continue the adventure and to share my experiences and expertise.”

Our Guides

Tom has been guiding green lane tours for 10 years and has probably driven every lane worth driving in England and Wales.

He also has significant experience driving in Europe, Africa and Australia.

Tom drives a bright orange Defender 110 CSW 300tdi or rather battered looking Discovery 300TDI.

Paul has been guiding for 4×4 Adventure Tours for five years.

He’s our mechanical genius and bush mechanic extraordinaire. In fact, there’s not much he can’t fix to keep you going on a trip.

Paul either drives a bright orange Defender 90 300TDI or a Silver Discovery 3 HSE.

shane

Shane has been guiding 4×4 Adventure Tours trips for four years and has significant green lane and offroad experience.

He originally with a Discovery 300tdi, but now drives a very distinct Blue Defender 90 200tdi. As well as being and expert guide Shane is also a highly competent mechanic and builds his own trucks.

Shane lives in Devon and has fantastic local knowledge

Shaun has been green laning for many years especially around Wiltshire and Somerset and Devon.

He’s an active member of the Green Lane Association both locally and nationally. Shaun is just as much at home in his Land Rover as he is driving a truck.

Shaun can mostly be found driving a Discovery 300TDI Commercial.

Stuart

Stuart may be the newest 4×4 Adventure Tours recruit but he brings a wealth of experience to the team.

A long time Land Rover fan he is the local Surrey Rep for the Green Lane Association. Stuart is dedicated to maintaining our rights to access many of the historic routes we use.

While his lightweight usually stays close to home Stuart uses his White Discovery 300tdi for guiding.
