Full suspension upgrade on the Toyota Hilux ready for Morocco
Pedders Shocks all round and a 2 inch lift. New HD torsion bars and British made Owen Springs.
Looking forward to trying it out in a few weeks time in Morocco. I have seen these big bore Pedders shocks work fantastical in the desert before. Proper Aussie Outback proven technology.
Last time out in Morocco we had a Nissan Patrol with us on these. No way the Land Rovers could keep up without on the rough stuff.
Not so sure about the 2 inch lift and how it will effect the handling, but probably won't be 2 inches with a full expedition load anyway and easy enough to swap back to the standard shackles and wind down the front torsion bars if I don't like it. It will at least help with the hilux a low hanging transfer box.
Here's Mike's Patrol floating along on his Pedders Shocks
Awesome crossing of the Tavy Tidal Ford after a night of heavy rain. What the video does not show was we were watching Salmon trying to leap up the wear while waiting for the last vehicles to cross. This was a first for me. Never seen anything like it in the UK before. Made the appearance of a Kingfisher seem like an ordinary everyday occurrence.
It really goes to show that is not all about the off road action. While we like to find good off-roading our Adventure Tours really get you out into place you would have no reason to go otherwise and we get to see some amazing site and visit some very undiscovered places.
(Apologies for the Audio level on this video!!!)
This sort of lane is not for everyone, but when we have got a capable group with well prepared vehicles and who are up for a challenge then this is what we can do...

By special request, a selection of camp cooking photos. After so many months on the road, camp cooking became an artform. Starting handle rotisserie chicken and stone baked bread being the highlights.
So more photos from the archive. These are from the rest of the trip down to cape town.We covered 23 African counties in 9 months
Found some early photos from my first Moroccan trip in our Series 2. Worth noting the snow in the mountains on one of the photos., And this was October. These changeable conditions casued by the High Atlas Mountains is is what makes Morocco such an interesting destination for a 4x4 Adventure Tour
