OMG Awesome Mercedes G- 500 4x4 squared in action in Wales. Never taken out anything like this before. Factory built Merc G wagon on Portal Axles. Baby brother of the giant 6 weeler.
Great weekends laning in the Peak District. First time we have run a trip here. We will be back for sure next year. The laning is on the gentle side especially in the dry conditions in July, but the scenery throughout the Derbyshire Dales is stunning.
Finally got around to editing the Video from mid wales. Great trip saw us doing Strata Florida backwards for a change. This mean going down the bomb hole rather than up it. Also included Brechfa forest which is probably my favorite single day of laning and some fun in the Fords around Builth Wells
Awesome 4 day Series trip Coast to Coast across the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Moors,Ravenglass to Whitby. Not had so much fun in a long time. Very impressed to see just how very capable these vehicles still are, even by modern standards. These vehicles are so much fun to drive, Forget the heavy steering and the bumpy ride. This Classic trip provided an ear to ear grin for all 4 days.
Photos from The Ridgeway and Marlborough Downs Trip. Very Very dry. Not a puddle in sight. Never seen it so dry; even when I have driven the route in August. Fantastic spring scenery and views, through the heart of Southern England
New Classic 4x4 Tours service launched by 4x4 Adventure Tours
Classic 4x4 Tours are designed specifically for the owners of Series Land Rovers and Classic Range Rovers. The tours cover many of the same classic routes we use on our regular tours but at a steadier more relaxed pace, avoiding the more extreme sections and with time to discuss the pleasures and pitfalls of driving an old Land Rover.
Classic 4x4 Tours destinations include Salisbury Plain, Cotswolds, Wales, The Lake District and Yorkshire
Our tours are lead using our 1960 Series II 109. Probably the most reliable vehicle we own. Having originally started our 4x4 life rebuilding "Russell", then driving it from Bristol to Cape Town (and rebuilding it again), we simply wanted the excuse to use it more often. It spends far too much time sat at home, while we are away on adventures in the Discovery.
Come and join us for simple and cost effective adventure in your Classic 4x4.
4x4 Adventure Tours have been running 4x4 guided tours both in the UK and aboard for a number of years now, taking customers on adventurous 4x4 tours. We are an expert and professional tour guide company. We provide expert guiding and expert mechanical knowledge to ensure you get the most from your trip.
Interesting comparison of 2 Discovery 2's on the same hill in Devon. Same vehicles, neither has Centre Diff lock fitted just TC, ones on AT tyres, one on Mud tyres, one on standard suspension, one on a 4 inch lift, and different drivers....
And just to show how good the Discovery's are, then here is a fairly standard Defender 90 on the same section...
Great trip in North Devon on a partial new route. As usually tight and scratchy in places but that's part of what makes Devon fum. Very dry in any places, despite what you might see in the photos. A bit more water in the rivers would have made the many ford crossings a bit more interesting. Also the second day needs a but more finessing. A bit to much tarmac between some of the lanes - oh well - another excuse for a recce!!!

This is one of the toughest lanes in Yorkshire. Its not on our usual route, as its a bit tough and damaging for a standard vehicle, but we were able to drive this at the end of the trip to let Tim test out his new Ashcroft locker (which I have recently fitted for him). Its in the dark because we wanted to finish the route with the rest of the customers first, although as you can see in the video, quite a few hung on to watch the action.
Lovely weekend in Yorkshire. First time we have run a Yorkshire on trip. Worked very well, except for a few issues with late breakfasts on Sunday Morning.included some lassic lanes like the Cam High Road, Rutland Rigg an Osmotherly Steps
Great run though the Cotswolds. A bit scratchy in places but 3 good fords, great scenery and some good lanes.
Excellent weekend in the Welsh Marches. Always so much to do with great and varied tracks. Spoilt for choice and easy to customize to suit the group. One of my favourites. Can wait for the next one.....
We had a professional photograph along for the ride on Saturday. Here are a few of his photos. So much better than my point and shoot snaps
And 2 short videos from Salisbury plain trips in January and February. Sorry if I have not got everyone on the trip in the videos. I do my best but only include what looks good snippets.
And apologies if you don't like the music, but I can assure you a lot better than the steady tick of a 300TDI, my inane comments or Pepper barking at me!!!!
Sometimes shit happens, but luckily this was on Saturday morning and we were able to source the required parts and get this vehicle back on the road in a few hours. A weekend saved for this customer...
Action from last weekends Mid Wales trip including Strata Florida and Brechfa Forest. Possibly not my best work, but I filled the good camera full of dust in Morocco and its of to the repair shop. Good job it was insured!!!. This was shot on the phone.
